Crop protection CGA214
The course is offered to students pursuing studies in a two-year Certificate in General Agriculture in first semester of their second year of study. The course gives principles in agricultural research, plant breeding and seed production. It gives guidelines on how to conduct research, to create new varieties and produce quality seed. The course focus is to enable students describe and identify different types of pests and diseases which affect crops in the field and protected environments and identify suitable management methods to prevent or combat the pests and diseases. The course will equip a student with knowledge and skills involved in crop protection in the field as well as in storage
Field crop production CGA215
The course if offered to students pursuing studies in a two-year Certificate in General Agriculture in the first semester of their second year of study. The course is intended to give the scientific principles required for successful production and management of different field crops. The course focus is to expose students to field crop production systems and impart skills in production of various field crops and their economic importance.
Horticulture CGA227
The course is offered to students pursuing a two-year Certificate in General Agriculture in the second semester of their second year of study. The course is designed to impart skills and an understanding of principles of horticultural management. The course further gives practical guidelines on predominant fruit and vegetable production in Zambia. The course focus is to enable students understand the production, management and marketing of horticultural crops.

Introduction to crop Husbandry CSC112
The course is offered to students pursuing studies in a three-year Diploma Program in general Agriculture in the second semester of their first year of study. The course aims to enable students to understand concepts in crop husbandry as an introductory course to specialized crop production courses. Students should be able to understand the agro-ecological zones of Zambia, cropping systems as pertains to the Zambian case and post-harvest technologies.
Soil Science CSC221
The course is offered to students pursuing studies in a three-year Diploma in General Agriculture in the first semester in their second year of study. The course will enable students to understand soil classification and taxonomy, soil physical and chemical assessments, uptake of nutrients by plants and deficiency symptoms in plants, management of soils and conservation, nutrient cycling in nature.
Crop Protection CSC231
The course is offered to students pursuing studies in a three-year Diploma in General Agriculture in the first semester of their second year of study. The objective of the course is to acquaint students with skills in crop protection with respect to insect pests, weeds and crop diseases. Students should be able to understand plant pathology and control measures, understand weeds and weed control measures, understand insect pests and their control aspects.
Field Crop Production CSC242
The course is offered to students pursuing studies in a three-year Diploma in General Agriculture in the second semester of their second year of study. The course will aim to enable students to understand main components of crop science, aspects of crop production, field crop production practices of the major crops grown both in Zambia and worldwide. The course will aim to incorporate modern production trends in field crops including Cereal crops, Legume crops, Oil crops, Fiber crops, Plantation crops, Root crops, Pulse crops.
Olericulture CSC351
The course is offered to students pursuing a three-year Diploma in General Agriculture in the first semester of their third year of study. The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of the Principles of Vegetable Production and the General Management Practices that are involved in vegetable production. Students should have an understanding on high value crops, nursery production, pests and diseases, harvesting, storage and marketing.
Pomology and Floriculture CSC351
The course is offered to students pursuing a three-year Diploma in general Agriculture in the first semester of their third year of study. The course will enable students to appreciate the classification of fruit trees, production principles, propagation approaches, field management practices, pest control measures, harvesting and post-harvest practices in fruit production.
Sustainable Agriculture CSC372
The course is offered to students pursuing studies in a three-year Diploma in General Agriculture in the second semester of their third year of study. The course is designed to equip students with skills and knowledge in organic agriculture.
Plant breeding and Seed technology CSC382
The course is offered to students pursuing studies in a three-year Diploma in General Agriculture in second semester of their third year of study. The course enables students, develop an understanding of plant breeding techniques and seed techniques, an understanding of relevant genetic principles and their application in plant improvement programs, tools and methods employed in the development of improved agronomic and horticultural crop varieties. To develop an understanding of relevant seed technology principles used in seed production, an appreciation of seed management and maintenance principles employed in the seed industry.
